EKO HOT BLOG reports that the E1 Series is the world’s first electric powerboat championship, showcasing clean technology and sustainable innovation in water sports.
The race features RaceBirds battery-powered hydrofoil boats capable of reaching speeds of up to 93km/h while gliding above the water to minimize drag, noise, and carbon emissions.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said there would be a total closure of the 1st Lekki Junction, inward Ozumba Mbadiwe, throughout the event. He appealed to motorists for patience, noting that the diversion was part of the traffic management strategy.
For road users from Ajah heading to Lekki, diversions will begin at Lekki 1st Junction by the pedestrian bridge, linking Yesufu Abiodun through Maroko Police Station, City of David, Ligali Ayorinde, Ajose Adeogun, and Eko Hotel roundabout before proceeding via Ahmadu Bello Way, Independence Bridge, and Onikan.
Alternative routes have also been provided for motorists traveling from Ajah towards CMS via Abraham Adesanya through Ogonbo and Okun Ajah roads, connecting to the Coastal Road and onward to Ahmadu Bello Way and Onikan.
The commissioner added that Admiralty Way and the Lekki Link Bridge remain open for access to Ikoyi and the mainland, while parking has been designated at Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, and the Nigerian Law School. LASTMA officials will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow.
