The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Deputy Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu.

Asuzu, a respected voice in Igbo sociocultural advocacy and convener of Ikoro Ndigbo, reportedly collapsed and died in the early hours of Wednesday.
His passing has been described as a major loss to both the party and the wider intellectual community.
In a statement, the State Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Chief MacDonald Amadi, paid tribute to Asuzu, describing him as “a man of uncommon intellect, conviction, and service.”
The party noted his immense contributions to public discourse, grassroots mobilization, and cultural renewal.
A native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, Asuzu blended academic brilliance with activism. He held degrees in Theology and Political Science and was pursuing a doctorate at the time of his death.
He was also founder of Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, an initiative that promoted cultural rebirth and intellectual dialogue.
Beyond politics, Asuzu served as national leader of I Stand With ADC, a coalition that mobilized citizens for democratic participation. .
He was previously a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he established himself as a prolific writer, analyst, entrepreneur, and visiting lecturer.
The ADC statement further highlighted his role as a devoted husband, father, and mentor who left a lasting impact on many lives.
“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the Nigerian society,” the statement concluded. Burial details will be announced later.
