EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to sources from Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos, the dollar is being sold at ₦1,470 and bought at ₦1,450 in the black market. This indicates that despite ongoing monetary measures by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira remains under pressure against the dollar.
It is important to note that the CBN does not officially recognize the parallel market, urging those seeking foreign exchange to approach their banks or authorized dealers for transactions.
In the official market, the CBN’s indicative rates show the dollar trading at a high of ₦1,472 and a low of ₦1,446. The slight variation in both the black market and official rates reflects continued volatility in the forex market, as Nigeria battles foreign exchange scarcity, rising import costs, and inflationary pressures.

Analysts believe the naira’s performance in the coming weeks will depend largely on oil revenue inflows, foreign reserves stability, and government reforms targeted at strengthening the local currency.
