The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident, noting that its personnel were among the first responders. According to the agency’s spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, officers immediately secured the scene to prevent further accidents and manage traffic, working with police officers from the Shogunle Division.
Taofiq added that officials from the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) later arrived to remove the victim’s remains.
LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy to the deceased’s family, calling the accident “a distressing reminder of the dangers of impatience and disregard for traffic safety, especially at railway crossings.”

He appealed to dispatch riders and motorists to exercise greater caution and patience when approaching rail intersections.
“Strict compliance with traffic signals and warning signs is crucial to prevent avoidable tragedies, not only in Lagos but across the country,” Bakare-Oki said.
He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to sustained public awareness, proactive enforcement, and safety advocacy to promote discipline and orderliness across Lagos.
