According to reports, the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings was rushed to the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge) Hospital on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a short illness, where she was later pronounced dead.
Eko Hot Blog reports that although her family is yet to officially confirm the news, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), her late husband’s political party, disclosed her passing to YEN.com.gh.

Agyeman-Rawlings served as First Lady of Ghana from June 4 to September 24, 1979, and again from December 31, 1981, to January 7, 2001, during her husband’s two terms as Head of State and later as President.

Born on November 17, 1948, she would have celebrated her 77th birthday in about four weeks.
Following news of her death, tributes have poured in across social media, with many Ghanaians mourning her as a pioneering woman in Ghanaian politics and a strong advocate for women’s empowerment.
