EKO HOT BLOG reports that Soludo, in a strongly worded statement, said the comment was misleading and based on a poor understanding of Nigeria’s security complexities. He stressed that insecurity in Nigeria is not a religious war between Christians and Muslims but a multifaceted challenge involving criminality, insurgency, and socio-political grievances.
The governor reminded the international community that Africa did not threaten military action against the US when a black man was killed by the American police, describing Trump’s position as hypocritical.
He said, “I remember the #BlackLivesMatter protests after a black man was killed by US police officers. Should Africa have threatened to invade America because blacks were being killed? That would be absurd.”
Soludo called for proper diplomatic engagement rather than inflammatory remarks, urging the Nigerian government to open dialogue and ensure all facts are clearly presented. He also stated that if Nigeria ever needed foreign assistance, it should be sought through official diplomatic channels for support, training, or technology not through threats or coercion.

He maintained that external military interference would be an affront to Nigeria’s sovereignty and urged Western leaders to respect Africa’s capacity to manage its internal affairs.
