The Gombe State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd), has lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Malam Sidi–Gombe Road on Friday.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the late commissioner was returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, after attending the North-East Regional Consultation on the Development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration Framework when the accident occurred.

According to a statement by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Ismaila Misilli, the crash also claimed the life of his police orderly, Sgt. Adamu Hussaini, while his driver sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed deep grief over the incident, describing Col. Bello as a disciplined officer and devoted public servant who brought integrity, courage, and patriotism into his role.

The governor said the late commissioner’s military background and commitment to public safety greatly strengthened the state’s security system. He added that Col. Bello’s passing was a huge loss to both his family and the Gombe State Government.
Yahaya extended his condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, and associates of the late commissioner, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and quick recovery for the injured driver.
The late Col. Abdullahi Bello (retd) was widely regarded for his dedication to duty, leadership, and contribution to the internal security framework of Gombe State.
