Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has faulted former United States President Donald Trump for describing Nigeria as a “disgraced country” and threatening military action over the alleged persecution of Christians.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that in a viral video on Friday, Jibrin denounced Trump’s comments as “un-American” and “a breach of international law,” insisting that the U.S. has no right to interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

He urged Trump to withdraw the statement and apologise, stressing that global concerns should be handled through the United Nations and not unilateral threats.

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) also condemned Trump’s remarks, warning against foreign interference in Nigeria’s sovereignty.
NEF spokesperson, Prof. Abubakar Jiddere, said northern leaders would not accept any external meddling disguised as humanitarian concern, accusing Washington of pursuing economic, not moral, interests in Africa.
Jiddere cited U.S. interventions in Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan as evidence of failed foreign policies that left nations destabilised. He insisted that Nigeria remained capable of solving its domestic challenges without external interference.

MACBAN National President, Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, dismissed U.S. allegations linking the association to terrorism as “baseless and politically motivated.” He said the group was preparing documents to defend itself, reaffirming its lawful advocacy for pastoralists across the country.
Similarly, the Arewa Youth Consultative Council (AYCC) described Trump’s threat as an attempt to exploit Nigeria’s natural resources under the guise of protecting religious freedom.
AYCC President Zaid Ayuba urged the Federal Government to engage diplomatic channels to prevent any escalation, warning that U.S. military involvement would only bring hardship to innocent Nigerians.
