The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Monday adjourned the hearing of a suit challenging the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) planned National Convention, as security operatives restricted access to the courtroom and barred journalists from covering the session.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Justice Ladiran Akintola, presiding over the matter, postponed the hearing of the motion on notice filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi against the PDP, its Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, and others, to Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The court had, last week, granted an ex parte motion allowing the party to proceed with preparations for the convention while scheduling Monday, November 10, for the substantive hearing.

However, after listening to submissions from all parties, Justice Akintola directed counsels to file and exchange their processes for a comprehensive and fair determination of the case.
The adjournment came amid heavy security presence around the court premises, where journalists and some observers were denied access to the courtroom.
Officers stationed at strategic points reportedly turned back members of the press, fueling public speculation about growing tension surrounding the legal dispute.

Adelabi, the claimant, is asking the court to restrain the PDP, its Acting National Chairman, the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who also chairs the Convention Organising Committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from taking any action that could frustrate or disrupt the scheduled convention.
Earlier, the court had ordered the party’s leadership to strictly adhere to its released timetable and guidelines for the exercise.
The outcome of the case is expected to determine whether the much-anticipated PDP National Convention in Ibadan will go ahead as planned.
