- Lagos Hairstylist Shot Dead in Suspected Robbery Attack
- The assailants already fled before help could arrive
- Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer said the victim suffered a fatal head injury during a fight with unidentified men
A professional hairstylist, identified as Sebastine Timothy, has been killed in a violent attack by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to police sources, the incident occurred late on Sunday along Olasanoye Street, shortly after Timothy returned home from work. The attackers reportedly broke into his apartment, stole his valuables, and forced him to transfer an undisclosed amount of money before shooting him in the head.
Neighbours who heard the gunshots rushed to the scene and found Timothy’s body. The assailants had already fled before help could arrive.
While police investigations are ongoing, online reports have suggested that the incident may be linked to cult-related violence in the area. A social media account known as Confra Naija, which often tracks cult activities, alleged that members of the Eiye confraternity were responsible for the killing. The platform claimed the suspects were targeting Timothy’s brother, believed to be a member of a rival group, Aye, but turned on the hairstylist when they could not find him.

“The cultists came for his brother but attacked Sebastine when he told them the man was not home,” the post alleged. “They took his phone, transferred money from his account, and then shot him.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday but offered a slightly different version of events. She said the victim suffered a fatal head injury during a fight with unidentified men.
“He sustained an injury to the head and died on his way to the hospital,” Adebisi said. “The police are yet to confirm whether it was caused by a gunshot or a machete wound. The family reported the matter, and his body has been deposited in the mortuary.”
The police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and identify those responsible.
