His case was reviewed by the Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee, which is currently evaluating pending cases as part of efforts to decongest correctional centres across the state.
The committee, chaired by the State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, ruled on Thursday that Yusuf deserved a three-month custodial sentence as well as community service.

The ruling was delivered during the committee’s visit to the Jimeta Custodial Centre, where Yusuf had been remanded by the Chief Magistrate Court II for an offence contrary to Section 278 of the Penal Code Law.
Appearing before the committee, Yusuf admitted to the offence, stating that he stole the beer and cigarettes, drank all six bottles, got drunk, and was subsequently arrested.
The committee directed that the three-month sentence should run from August 29, 2025, the day he was first remanded.
