The event drew prominent clerics, political figures and members of the Catholic community. His comments were later shared in a statement released in Abuja by his media aide, Jackson Udom.

Addressing the congregation, Akpabio described his political elevation as a testament to God’s transforming power, stressing that no one’s background can limit what God intends to do.
He noted that as “the highest-ranking Christian in government,” his life story reflects God’s ability to lift anyone who is spiritually prepared and positioned for divine opportunities.
Akpabio encouraged citizens to remain faithful to church service, adding that even the smallest contribution to God’s work carries immeasurable spiritual reward. According to him, any support given to church construction or development becomes a seed that God never overlooks.
He maintained that his passion for supporting religious projects comes from the understanding that “nothing is too big to give to God.”
The Senate President further announced that a new worship centre has been completed within the National Assembly complex. He said arrangements are underway to invite Nigerians from different backgrounds to witness its commissioning in the coming weeks.

At the ceremony, the Catholic Bishop of Uyo, Most Rev. John Ayah, commended Akpabio and his wife, Dr. Unoma Akpabio, for their continuous support for the Church, urging him to ignore detractors who criticise him because of his national relevance.
Akpabio’s remarks come amid renewed discourse on Senate stability, following recent clarifications by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele dismissing rumours of any plot to remove the Senate President.
