The Presiding Pastor of Livingspring Chapel International, Femi Emmanuel, has criticised Nigerian politicians who visit prominent General Overseers during election seasons, saying many go in search of influence rather than divine guidance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the cleric, speaking in Ibadan, said politicians often target large congregations, knowing that religious endorsements could sway thousands of votes.

He told journalists that despite the appearance of spiritual consultations, the intentions behind such visits are largely political.

According to him, many Nigerians still misunderstand the power structures that determine leadership, noting that critical decisions are made at the grassroots by individuals who often lack the competence to shape the nation’s future.
He said ward politics remains the foundation of electoral success, urging citizens to participate actively instead of staying detached.
Pastor Emmanuel also called on President Bola Tinubu to focus more on security, insisting that restoring peace across the country must remain a priority despite inherited challenges.

Beyond security, he reaffirmed his long-held belief that returning Nigeria to a regional system of government would resolve most of its deep-rooted problems.
He warned that failure to restructure could worsen the situation, stressing that the country’s progress depends on a governance model that reflects its diversity and realities.
