EKO HOT BLOG reports that the move signals a renewed effort to strengthen legislative oversight as the country faces growing security concerns and ongoing budget defence sessions.
The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary. The adjustment affects several key committees, including National Security and Intelligence, National Planning, Air Force and Livestock and Animal Husbandry. The reshuffle follows the earlier dissolution of the National Security and Intelligence and Air Force Committees on November 26, after Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele faulted their oversight performance amid rising insecurity.
Under the new arrangement, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi of Kebbi State has been appointed Chairman of the National Security and Intelligence Committee, moving from his former role heading the National Planning Committee. Senator Shehu Buba of Bauchi State, who previously chaired the dissolved security committee, now leads the Livestock and Animal Husbandry Committee.
For the National Planning Committee, Senator Mustafa Musa of Yobe State now serves as Chairman, replacing Senator Abdullahi. Senator Osita Ngwu of Enugu State, the Minority Whip and former Deputy Chairman, has been named Chairman of the Air Force Committee.

The reshuffle is expected to reposition the affected committees as the National Assembly steps into a crucial phase of policy scrutiny and national security evaluation.
