The Legislative Council of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has successfully concluded its three-day retreat on the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill, aimed at strengthening legislative capacity, promoting fiscal discipline, and enhancing collaboration with the Executive arm for sustainable development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the retreat commenced with intensive lectures and training sessions facilitated by Mr. Musibaudeen Adebayo, focusing on budgetary best practices, strict adherence to approved estimates, and the importance of a cordial working relationship between the Legislative Council and the Executive.
Participants were guided extensively on avoiding budgetary errors and ensuring proper appropriation in line with established financial regulations.
On the second day, the facilitator provided a detailed breakdown of the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill, enabling members of the Legislative Council to thoroughly examine each budgetary component.
Lawmakers actively engaged in rigorous reviews to ensure accuracy, transparency, accountability, and proper allocation of resources.
Concluding the retreat, the Leader of the 10th Legislative Council reaffirmed the Council’s collective resolve to deliver a people-oriented and well-scrutinised 2026 Budget.
“We are committed to transmitting a properly examined and appropriately appropriated budget to the Executive Chairman to ensure seamless and effective implementation,” he stated.
He noted that the Council’s commitment aligns fully with the SHIEELD Agenda of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, which prioritises accelerated development, strong governance, and improved service delivery.
“Our resolve is to ensure that the 2026 Budget serves as a strategic instrument for transforming Ibeju-Lekki into ‘The New Lagos’ through responsive governance, quality service delivery, and sustainable development initiatives,” the Legislative Leader added.
The Council further pledged its unwavering support to the Executive in ensuring that the 2026 fiscal plan delivers tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Ibeju-Lekki.
