The statement praised Somalia’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace and national reconciliation despite security challenges.

The ministry condemned any action or statements that seek to weaken Somalia’s constitutional authority and emphasised that a stable Somalia is crucial for security in the Horn of Africa and the wider continent.
Nigeria further warned against recognising any region of Somalia as independent, stressing that such moves would only deepen crises.
The statement comes in response to Israel’s recent recognition of Somaliland, a self-declared autonomous region in northwestern Somalia. The Somali Federal Government described Israel’s decision as “unlawful” and stressed that Somaliland remains an inseparable part of the country.

The African Union also criticised the recognition, warning that undermining Somalia’s unity could set a dangerous precedent for the continent.
Israel, however, defended the agreement, describing it as part of its broader diplomatic strategy through the Abraham Accords, including planned cooperation in technology, agriculture, health, and the economy.
Somaliland’s leadership welcomed the recognition, calling it a historic milestone in their pursuit of international partnerships.
