The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service has received award-winning music star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, alongside social commentator Otse Vincent, also called VeryDarkMan.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the visit to the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri, Apapa, was aimed at understanding the legal framework for securing the release of eligible inmates through the payment of court-imposed fines.

According to officials, the visit focused on gaining firsthand insight into the procedures, documentation, and safeguards required to lawfully process such discharges in line with existing correctional regulations.

The duo was received by the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Deputy Controller of Corrections, Sanni Richard, and other senior officers.
The custodial centre’s Public Relations Officer, Osho Onimisi Joseph, explained that Burna Boy and VeryDarkMan were carefully guided on eligibility requirements, verification processes, and the importance of transparency in fine-related inmate releases.
He stressed that no inmate is released without full compliance with court orders, due process, and proper authorization, adding that all actions are guided by the law.

Joseph further reassured the public that inmates in the facility are kept under humane conditions, consistent with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, international best practices, and the Nelson Mandela Rules.
The Lagos State Command also commended individuals and groups who show interest in lawful initiatives that promote justice, prison decongestion, and inmate welfare, while reaffirming its commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
