The programme was organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development with the theme: “From Strength to Impact: Deepening Community Resilience.”
Sanwo-Olu praised communities across the state for initiating and executing self-help projects, noting that such contributions have continued to shape safer, stronger, and more resilient neighbourhoods.
“We will keep doing our best to ensure that Lagos remains a place where every resident can thrive,” he said. “This administration remains committed to empowering CDAs, supporting community-led initiatives, and improving the quality of life of Lagosians, regardless of location. Together, we will build an inclusive and prosperous Lagos where every community contributes to our shared progress.”

Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Lanre-Agbaje, described the celebration as a moment to appreciate communities for their unity and resilience. He noted that this year’s theme challenges CDAs to go beyond survival and focus on creating long-term impact through cooperation and innovation.
He also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for prioritising rural development and ensuring that community-driven projects are completed across the state.
Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy, Aviation, and Rural Development, Hon. Ganiyu Sanni, said the event provides an opportunity to celebrate the role of CDAs, traditional institutions, youth groups, and women’s organisations whom he described as the backbone of community growth.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, Azeez Amusat, also lauded the government for its continuous support, noting that the impact of state projects is visible across all local government areas. He presented an award to the governor, received on his behalf by the deputy governor.
Highlights of the celebration included the presentation of two brand-new 18-seater Hilux buses and two minibuses to the Best CDA, Best Rural CDA, Second Best Rural CDA, and the top runners-up. Several other CDAs received consolation cash awards.
