The political heat in Abia State is already rising as Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has vowed to mobilise all his influence to ensure the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the state in the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Kalu made the declaration on Monday during his annual New Year visit to Ebonyi State, where he met with the APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area.

The visit, a tradition spanning several years, is said to reinforce longstanding political alliances between Kalu and the Ebonyi APC leadership.

The former Abia governor said he would spare no effort to wrest power from the Labour Party in Abia State. “I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections.
I will put my heart and soul into ensuring that the APC secures a sweeping victory in Abia,” Kalu declared, adding that while he maintains a cordial relationship with incumbent Governor Alex Otti, his focus is firmly on APC’s success.
Kalu also urged other governors to take responsibility for the security of their states. “When I governed Abia, we maintained peace, security, and order. Kidnapping and other crimes were almost nonexistent, even as other states battled insecurity.
Governors must emulate Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, who has successfully ensured peace and stability in his domain,” he said.
Speaking on his relationship with Stanley Okoro-Emegha, Kalu noted, “I visit him every year because of the loyalty and trust he embodies.

I raised him as a young man, and even after handing him over to former Governor David Umahi, he has remained a model of dedication to leadership. He now serves Governor Nwifuru with the same integrity and commitment.”
The senator’s comments signal the beginning of an intensified political campaign in Abia State, with the APC preparing to challenge the incumbent party’s dominance ahead of the 2027 polls.
