The former presidential candidate emerged unchallenged as the only aspirant who purchased the SDP nomination form.

Addressing party delegates and supporters after his emergence, Adebayo said Nigeria was facing worsening hardship, unemployment, insecurity and poor governance, adding that many citizens had lost confidence in the current leadership.
He said many graduates remained unemployed years after completing their education, while families continued to struggle with hunger and inadequate healthcare services.
According to him, his emergence was part of a bigger mission to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the next general election.

Adebayo accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of undermining internal democracy and allegedly attempting to weaken opposition parties ahead of the polls.
He claimed that political pressure was being exerted on opposition groups and democratic institutions to limit political competition in the country.
The SDP candidate argued that unlike some parties where decisions are allegedly controlled by a few individuals, his party allowed democratic participation and open competition.
He also praised Bala Mohammed for ensuring the convention was conducted peacefully despite what he described as political challenges.
Adebayo expressed confidence that the SDP would win the 2027 presidential election and promised that his administration would focus on improving governance, reducing poverty and strengthening democratic institutions.
He pledged to prioritise accountability, grassroots development and policies aimed at improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

The SDP flag bearer maintained that his political struggle was not directed at any individual but against corruption, injustice, abuse of power and poor governance.
He further encouraged Nigerians to support multiparty democracy and resist attempts to silence opposition voices in the political space.
Party delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory endorsed Adebayo through a vote of confidence, confirming him as the SDP’s standard-bearer for the 2027 election.
