Confirming the development, U.S. President Donald Trump said Maduro, alongside his wife, had been captured and flown out of Venezuela as part of the operation carried out in collaboration with U.S. law enforcement agencies.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been captured and removed from the country,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

He added that further details would be provided at a news conference scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (1600 GMT) at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, where he is spending the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
The charges mark a significant escalation in Washington’s long-running confrontation with the Maduro government and signal a new phase in U.S. engagement with Venezuela following the dramatic military operation.
