The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that Plateau State will deliver more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, citing the party’s expanding influence and the weakening of opposition structures in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Yilwatda made the declaration on Tuesday at an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency, held at the MNS Resort Hotel in Pankshin.

He said the APC is now significantly stronger in Plateau State than it was during the 2023 elections, noting that many political actors who previously opposed the party have since aligned with it.
According to him, the challenges that limited the party’s performance in 2023 no longer exist, as key political figures, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang, commissioners, local government chairmen and other appointees, are now working with the APC.
Yilwatda described PKK as a traditional stronghold of the party, recalling that President Tinubu recorded some of his strongest results in the constituency during the last presidential election.
He noted that APC won two of the three local governments in PKK, secured the House of Representatives seat, Senate seats and most of the State House of Assembly positions in the area, stressing that the constituency has consistently remained loyal to the party.
The APC chairman said the party now enjoys a united and cohesive political front in Plateau State, which he described as a movement without internal friction.
He expressed optimism that the unity would translate into massive electoral success in 2027, insisting that APC would win in every ward and polling unit across PKK, with a target of over one million votes for President Tinubu statewide.
Highlighting the party’s growing numerical strength, Yilwatda said the APC currently has the governor, majority of senators, members of the House of Representatives, members of the State House of Assembly, commissioners, councillors and local government chairmen in Plateau State.
He added that the new political alignment has given him the opportunity to engage constructively with the state government, rather than criticising it publicly, in order to improve governance.
Addressing concerns over the influx of new members into the party, Yilwatda assured stakeholders that no individual or group would hijack the APC structure. He urged party leaders to welcome defectors, stressing that all members enjoy equal rights and privileges regardless of when they joined the party.

The APC chairman also outlined reforms under his leadership, including the introduction of digital membership registration, the expansion of the party’s national footprint and plans to build a new National Secretariat in Abuja. He said the party has continued to grow in strength nationwide, with increased representation at both state and federal levels.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Diket Plang, Representative Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, and the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Na’anlong Daniel, commended Yilwatda’s leadership and pledged their loyalty to President Tinubu, Governor Mutfwang and the APC.
They assured party members that Plateau State would record its highest-ever vote tally for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Other party leaders, including APC elders, commissioners and council chairmen, also pledged their continued support for the party.
The stakeholders’ meeting attracted a large turnout of party officials, youths, women, ward and local government leaders, as well as former lawmakers, commissioners and councillors from Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam.
