Adeyemi said greater investment in the fire sector is critical to reducing fire outbreaks and improving response capacity, noting that effective prevention and rapid intervention are essential to protecting lives, property and the national economy.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen private sector participation in fire safety, citing the FFS partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation as part of the agency’s reform agenda. According to him, the collaboration will see about 7,400 Nigerians trained nationwide in basic firefighting, safety and prevention.
“This initiative will strengthen community resilience, protect the economy and significantly reduce fire incidents through public enlightenment, stakeholder engagement and improved response time by our officers,” Adeyemi said, adding that prevention remains a core focus of the service’s reforms
The Controller General charged the newly decorated officers to go beyond routine duties, urging them to demonstrate vision, discipline and innovation in their new roles.

“Your new rank is proof that the Service has found you worthy of greater trust and responsibility. Do not see it as a call for salutes alone, but as a platform to bring new ideas and innovations to the management,” he said.
Adeyemi stressed that the promotions come with higher expectations, including stronger leadership, deeper discipline and unwavering integrity, while urging officers to lead by example, respect the chain of command and embrace innovation.
He commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services (CDCFIB), Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, for their support to the Federal Fire Service.
The Controller General also disclosed that the FFS has entered into a partnership to establish fire stations across tertiary institutions nationwide, aimed at improving emergency response in hard-to-reach areas and enhancing overall service delivery.
Also speaking at the event, the Secretary of the Board, Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd), reminded the promoted officers that their elevation signifies increased responsibility and trust, describing it as a test of integrity they must pass through professionalism and dedication to duty.
