EKO HOT BLOG reports that security sources said the suspect was believed to be conducting reconnaissance for the terrorist group ahead of a possible attack.
According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, troops were alerted immediately after the suspect was spotted moving towards the military position.
“According to the sources, the suspect was believed to be an ISWAP operative conducting reconnaissance on the military position,” the report stated.
Troops deployed at a nearby ambush position were subsequently directed to intercept the suspect before he could gain access to the military facility.
“Troops deployed in an ambush position were immediately alerted and engaged the suspect as he attempted to infiltrate the defensive location, resulting in his neutralisation,” the report added.
Military sources quoted by the publication said the successful operation underscored the effectiveness of surveillance technology and coordinated tactical responses in counter-insurgency operations.

According to the sources, the combination of real-time monitoring and the swift deployment of ground troops prevented the suspect from accessing the military position or gathering sensitive intelligence.
“Military sources said the successful operation highlights the effectiveness of the deployment of surveillance technology and coordinated ground responses in detecting and eliminating terrorist threats before they can compromise troop positions,” Makama reported.
