United States President Donald Trump has said the US is prepared to support Iranians in their push for freedom as anti-government protests continue across the country.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump wrote, “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!”

His comments came amid sharp criticism from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who accused protesters of acting to impress the US president.
Khamenei made the remarks as demonstrations entered their 13th day on Friday, sparked by the collapse of Iran’s currency. The protests, which began in Tehran on 28 December, have since spread to several other cities.
In a video address broadcast on national television, Khamenei dismissed the demonstrators as “a bunch of vandals” and blamed foreign interference for the unrest.
“A bunch of vandals came out in Tehran and other places and destroyed buildings belonging to their own country just to please the president of the US,” he said.
He added, “That’s because he made the absurd claim that he supports you rioters and people who are harmful to the country. If he’s capable, he should run his own country.”

The Iranian leader, who has been in power since 1989, also accused Trump of being responsible for Iranian deaths during a recent conflict with Israel, claiming his hands were “stained with the blood of more than a thousand Iranian martyrs during the 12-day war.”
According to Khamenei, “A group of inexperienced and careless people believe him and act according to his wishes. They set fire to rubbish bins to please him.”
He insisted that the government would not bow to pressure, declaring that the Islamic Republic, founded through the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of people, would not retreat in the face of opposition.
