Eko Hot Blog reports that the inspection covered the unapproved ram market at Container Bus Stop and the illegal market structures and shanties around the GreenSpring axis.
During the visit, the Chairman engaged traders and occupants, sensitising them on the approved procedures for establishing and operating markets within Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
Hon. Olowa firmly stated that the affected locations are not designated trading areas and therefore violate existing environmental and planning regulations.
He directed all operators to immediately begin relocation to approved markets, warning that enforcement actions would follow non-compliance.
According to the Chairman, “These locations are not approved for trading, and public spaces must not be abused.
Our responsibility is to ensure order, safety, and environmental sanity across Ibeju-Lekki.”
He added that the occupants have been given a grace period until next week to comply, after which the local government’s demolition team will be deployed to enforce full compliance.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Hon. Olowa stressed that environmental protection and proper regulation of commercial activities remain key priorities.
“We will continue to enforce the rules fairly but firmly, in the interest of residents and the sustainable development of our local government,” he said.
The enforcement exercise further reflects the Chairman’s firm leadership and determination to keep Ibeju-Lekki orderly, safe, and befitting of its growing economic and strategic importance within Lagos State.
