Eko Hot Blog reports that the monitoring exercise, carried out on the first day of resumption, took Dr. Shittu to schools including St. Agnes Primary School and Maryland Primary School, where he evaluated pupils’ turnout, teachers’ punctuality, and the overall readiness of school administrators for the new term.
Speaking during the visit, the LASUBEB Chairman expressed concern over the low turnout of pupils on the first day of resumption, describing early resumption as essential for effective teaching and learning.
He appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that their children return to school promptly, noting that regular attendance remains a key factor in academic success and character development.
Dr. Shittu, however, expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment shown by teachers and school heads who resumed early, commending their dedication and professionalism.
He encouraged them to sustain the momentum and continue to provide a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for pupils.
The Executive Chairman also interacted with pupils and teachers during the visit. One of the highlights was his conversation with a Primary Two pupil, Esther Mathias, who shared her dream of becoming a teacher.
Dr. Shittu applauded her ambition and urged her to remain diligent and focused, describing her aspiration as a testament to the positive influence of quality basic education.
He reaffirmed LASUBEB’s commitment to continuous supervision and monitoring of public schools in line with the Board’s guiding principle of “Leave No Child Behind,” stressing that the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s efforts to strengthen learning outcomes and improve the quality of basic education across the state.
Dr. Shittu noted that such monitoring exercises would remain a regular feature to ensure compliance with standards and to address challenges promptly as schools progress through the academic session.
