The family of renowned Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu has announced the schedule for her final burial rites following her passing on 12 January 2026 after a prolonged battle with a leg ailment.
According to the announcement shared by fellow gospel artist Alayo Melody, Eko Hot Blog gathered that the funeral events will begin on Tuesday, 20 January, with a service of songs at LTV 8 Ground, Ikeja, Lagos.

This will be followed by a candlelight procession at 7 pm and an artistes’ tribute night at 8 pm, celebrating her life and musical legacy.
The interment service, reserved for family members and close associates, is scheduled for Wednesday, 21 January, concluding the official burial arrangements.

Bunmi Akinnanu, who began singing at age 10 and later left a banking career to pursue gospel music full-time, rose to prominence with her hit song Omije Ojumi, which became widely cherished in churches and homes across Nigeria.
