A diesel tanker has overturned on the Liverpool Bridge in Apapa, Lagos, causing serious disruption to traffic along the Mile 2 inward route and raising safety concerns for commuters.
Eyewitness videos shared online on Monday showed residents and passersby scooping diesel from the fallen tanker, despite the obvious danger at the scene, Eko Hot Blog reports.

The incident quickly drew public attention as the spilled fuel spread across the bridge.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the development in a statement posted on its official X handle, noting that the tanker’s fuel tank was damaged, leading to continuous leakage of diesel onto the roadway.
LASTMA said officers of the Nigerian Police Force from Area B, alongside other emergency and safety agencies, had been alerted and were responding to the situation to prevent further risks.
