President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the brutal killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Chiranci area of Kano State, describing the incident as a horrific crime against humanity.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the President, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, condemned the attack in strong terms and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano State.

Tinubu also praised the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of key suspects linked to the killings, directing security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of everyone involved in the crime.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that acts of extreme violence and lawlessness would not be tolerated under his administration.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday at Dorayi Chiranci Quarters, where unknown assailants reportedly broke into the family’s residence and attacked the victims with dangerous weapons, leaving all seven of them dead.
Confirming the attack, the Kano State Police Command stated that it received a distress call at 12:10 p.m. on January 17, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to immediately deploy a tactical team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.

The victims were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths.
As investigations continue, police authorities disclosed that three principal suspects have been arrested following intelligence-driven operations carried out between the night of January 17 and the early hours of January 18, 2026.
The arrests, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, were made on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and are expected to aid ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
