The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of Chief Emeka Beke, has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to urgently convene a stakeholders’ meeting of the party to chart a clear path forward.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the call followed recent clarifications on the leadership structure of political parties at the state level, which the faction believes have resolved lingering disputes within the Rivers APC.

The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt by the APC State Publicity Secretary of the Emeka Beke-led faction, Dalington Nwauju, and made available to journalists.

Nwauju referenced remarks credited to the Presidential Spokesman, Daniel Bwala, who stated during a live television programme that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognises every sitting governor as the leader of his party in the state, regardless of whether the governor belongs to the APC or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bwala also disclosed that the President had warned against any attempt to obstruct Governor Fubara from carrying out his constitutional duties, stressing that while loyalty is rewarded, overbearing conduct would not be tolerated.
Reacting to the development, Nwauju commended President Tinubu for what he described as a clear reaffirmation of party constitution and convention. He noted that the clarification aligned with the position long held by the Rivers APC since Governor Fubara joined the party.
According to him, the President’s stance vindicates the party’s position and reflects the direction of the APC national leadership under Prof Nentawe Yilwatda and Senator Ajibola Basiru, which allows governors to lead party affairs at the state level for effective mobilisation and cohesion.
Nwauju said the reaffirmation should put to rest what he described as false narratives being promoted by political actors and insisted that Governor Fubara remains the recognised leader of the APC in Rivers State.

He therefore called on the governor, in his capacity as party leader, to immediately convene a stakeholders’ meeting to give the party direction going forward.
However, Nwauju reiterated his earlier demand for the resignation of the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, over comments he made regarding the impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Fubara and his deputy by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
He argued that Morka’s remarks were inconsistent with democratic principles and the objectives of the party, urging the APC National Working Committee to take note of existing court judgments on the Rivers APC leadership and to schedule congresses at the ward, local government and state levels to harmonise interests.
It would be recalled that the APC in Rivers State is currently divided into two factions, one led by Chief Emeka Beke and another led by Chief Tony Okocha, which is recognised by the party’s national leadership.
