EKO HOT BLOG reports that the directive was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful. He said the order takes immediate effect and applies to all sectors of social and economic life in the region.
Powerful stated that schools, offices, markets, transport services and other businesses are to open without fear or intimidation, stressing that the era of enforced sit at home is over.
“All markets, schools, offices, transport services, and economic activities must resume fully and normally from tomorrow. The era of Monday sit at home is over,” the statement said.
The group warned that any individual or group attempting to enforce sit at home going forward would be acting in direct opposition to Kanu’s instructions and the Biafran cause.
IPOB also cautioned state governments against threatening traders or forcefully shutting down markets, noting that no governor has the authority to compel businesses to close under the guise of sit at home enforcement.
While urging residents to remain calm, vigilant and law abiding, the statement emphasised that any market renovation or relocation exercise must involve consultations with relevant stakeholders. It added that traders must be provided with suitable temporary locations before any construction work begins.
Meanwhile, a legal consultant to Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has criticised calls urging a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, to abandon his 2027 presidential ambition.
In a statement shared via his X handle, Ejimakor described such calls as cowardly and duplicitous. He argued that claims suggesting President Bola Tinubu controls the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies should not be used to discourage Obi from contesting.

According to him, Nigeria’s political history shows that incumbency does not automatically guarantee electoral victory, adding that such narratives are misleading and unsupported by facts.
