Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Muhammed Sanusi, 42, and Ogbu James Ajah, 40, both residents of Ori-Apata. They are currently assisting the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) with ongoing investigations, and police efforts to apprehend any additional suspects linked to the crime are ongoing.

Ayanlade confirmed that forensic experts have been deployed to the scene to collect evidence, while the area has been sealed off as part of the investigation. The case was transferred to SCID to ensure a thorough and discreet inquiry.
The incident initially sparked protests from family members and sympathisers, but law enforcement and local authorities intervened promptly to restore order. Joint patrols have since been intensified across the community and neighbouring areas, with police tactical teams deployed to maintain public safety.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, accompanied by a high-powered delegation from the Oyo State Government, visited the community to console the bereaved family and assess the situation. Haruna has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead operational deployments to ensure sustained peace.
Ayanlade urged residents to remain calm, provide credible information to aid investigations, and allow the law to take its course. He emphasised that “no stone will be left unturned in unravelling the circumstances surrounding this heinous act and ensuring that justice is served.”
