The annual Iftar forms part of President Tinubu’s Ramadan engagements, during which he hosts political leaders and senior officials for the breaking of fast.
In previous years, the President has used the occasion to stress national unity and the need for responsible leadership.
At the 2025 edition, he urged governors and ministers to prioritise policies that directly improve citizens’ welfare, encouraging them to “do more” for the people.

Similarly, in 2024, he called on political office holders to put aside partisan differences and focus squarely on governance, noting that the period for politicking should give way to service delivery.
The President is expected to host additional Iftar sessions with senior officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic community as Ramadan continues.
In earlier administrations, former President Muhammadu Buhari also maintained the tradition of hosting leaders of the National Assembly, the judiciary, party officials and other stakeholders during the fasting period.
