The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, has stepped down from office amid reports that the State House of Assembly was considering impeachment proceedings against him.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that he submitted his resignation on Friday morning.
His spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, confirmed the development, noting that the decision had been officially communicated, though he did not go into detail about the reasons behind it.

While no formal explanation has been provided, the resignation follows a period of growing tension between Gwarzo and the Kano State House of Assembly.
In recent days, lawmakers had raised several allegations against him, including claims of misconduct linked to his refusal to defect to the All Progressives Congress alongside the state governor, Abba Yusuf.
Govrnor Yusuf had earlier joined the APC on January 26, a move that brought notable changes to the state’s political landscape and administrative structure.
Following his defection, the governor initiated a series of reforms within the government.
These included the removal of the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, as well as the dismissal of the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Shehu Sagagi.

These actions were described as part of broader efforts to reorganize the government for more effective service delivery.
Gwarzo’s departure is expected to set in motion constitutional procedures for the selection and confirmation of a new deputy governor, pending approval by the Kano State House of Assembly.
