Stanley Boateng has been appointed as an assistant coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress.
Boateng will work with head coach Rena Wakama as part of efforts to strengthen the team’s technical crew ahead of key international competitions. The appointment is expected to enhance the squad’s tactical depth as preparations intensify for major tournaments.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the reigning African champions are currently in the United States for a training tour ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup. The programme is designed to improve match fitness and expose the players to high level competition.
As part of the tour, D’Tigress will face teams from the Women’s National Basketball Association in friendly matches. The Nigerian side is scheduled to take on Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever.

Attention is also on the draw for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Berlin on Tuesday. The outcome will determine Nigeria’s group stage opponents as the team steps up preparations for the global tournament.
