No fewer than five persons have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a three-storey building under construction on Saturday in the Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market in Abuja.
The tragic incident occurred at a construction site around Gaduwa Estate in the Gudu District of the Federal Capital Territory.

Emergency responders also rescued at least 10 persons alive from the rubble as rescue operations continued late into Saturday.
Officials said more victims were still believed to be trapped beneath the collapsed structure, prompting intensified search-and-rescue efforts at the scene.
Personnel of the Federal Fire Service, health workers, security agencies and local volunteers were actively involved in the operation to recover victims and clear debris from the site.
In a statement issued after the incident, the spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, disclosed that emergency administrative measures had been introduced to support survivors and affected families.
According to the statement, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, directed that all rescued victims receive immediate medical treatment free of charge.
The statement added that the Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Adedolapo Fasawe, visited the scene on behalf of the administration.

“Federal Capital Territory Administration Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, who was at the scene, said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed that all casualties be given free medical treatment,” the statement read.
Authorities are yet to officially determine the cause of the building collapse as investigations continue.
