The actor shared details of his visit in a video posted on social media, where he urged Nigerians to remember Baba Opebe and other veterans who contributed to the growth of the Nigerian movie industry.
According to Baba Opebe, doctors diagnosed him with low blood count. He said he has so far received four pints of blood and undergone several medical tests, but his condition has yet to improve.
Afod, who donated N100,000 towards the veteran actor’s treatment, also called on members of the public to assist with his medical expenses.

The actor said the condition of Baba Opebe was particularly painful to see because of the veteran’s contributions to Nollywood over the years.
“I visited Baba Opebe; what I saw broke my heart,” Afod said.
He added that the veteran had spent more than a year battling illness and expressed concern about the condition of actors who helped build the industry.
Afod said many Nollywood veterans had sacrificed their time and resources to develop the Nigerian film industry, stressing the need to support them when they face difficult moments.
He also appealed for prayers for Baba Opebe and other veterans currently dealing with health challenges.
“I pray that God Almighty will stretch forth His healing hands upon Baba Opebe and every one of our veterans who is currently going through one challenge or another,” he said.
He prayed for strength and recovery for the affected veterans and urged Nigerians to join him in praying for Baba Opebe.
The appeal comes amid growing calls within Nollywood for greater support for aging and ailing veterans, with actors and fans increasingly turning to public appeals, donations and prayers to assist colleagues facing serious health challenges.
Afod’s intervention is expected to draw further attention to Baba Opebe’s condition and the broader concerns surrounding the welfare of veterans who played significant roles in the development of Nollywood.
