The performance ensured the Nigerian athlete added another title to her growing list of achievements this season, as she maintained her dominance in the event despite not matching her season’s fastest time.
A meet record signifies the quickest time ever recorded in the history of a specific competition, meaning Amusan’s run now stands as the best performance ever witnessed in the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open.

Although impressive, the winning time is slower than her 2026 season best of 12.28 seconds, which she recorded earlier in the year. Her personal and world record remains 12.12 seconds, set at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States.
The New Taipei Athletics Open is a World Athletics-sanctioned event that attracts both domestic and international athletes seeking ranking points and competitive preparation ahead of major global championships.
Amusan’s latest victory comes shortly after her triumph at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco, where she also clocked 12.28 seconds to secure her first Diamond League win of the season and set a new meeting record
The Diamond League is regarded as the highest-level annual circuit in track and field, bringing together elite athletes across multiple global venues to compete for ranking points and qualification for the season-ending finals.

At the Rabat meet, Amusan finished ahead of top contenders including Devynne Charlton and Nadine Visser, reinforcing her consistency at the highest level of competition.
Earlier in the season, the 29-year-old had placed third in her opening Diamond League race before improving to second place in Xiamen, China, where she equalled her 12.28-second season best.
A three-time Diamond League champion, Amusan remains one of the leading contenders for this year’s title, although she is expected to face strong competition from in-form rivals such as American hurdler Masai Russell as the season progresses.
