The court heard that the convict used his United Bank for Africa (UBA) account, with account number 2213629628, to receive and transfer funds on behalf of the insurgents.
According to evidence presented before the court, Bashir admitted receiving N5 million from a Boko Haram member identified as Ibrahim Modu and subsequently transferring the money into an Access Bank account belonging to the terrorist.
He further confessed that the transaction took place in Maiduguri in 2025 and that he received a commission of N20,000 for facilitating the transfer.
The businessman was arraigned by the Federal Government on Monday and pleaded guilty to the charge of terrorism financing.
Following his guilty plea and confessional statement, Justice Binta Fatimah Nyako convicted him and handed down a 20-year prison sentence without the option of a fine.

The judge ordered that the sentence should take effect from 2025, the year Bashir was arrested and taken into custody.
Justice Nyako also declined the convict’s plea for leniency, maintaining that the offence was serious and that the law must be allowed to take its full course.
