According to the statement, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested the suspects following what the command described as a thorough investigation into the disappearance of Sodiq Durodola Olaniyi, a 29-year-old indigene of Oyo State.
The suspects were identified as Adeoye Babatunde Alimi, 23, also known as “Solar”; Bernard Kayode, 25, popularly called “KK”; and Owoyemi Bashiru, 27, also known as “GDP.”
Police said the three suspects were apprehended on June 29, 2026, during coordinated tactical operations carried out at identified cult hideouts across Ilorin metropolis.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are alleged members of the Eiye Confraternity, which investigators believe was responsible for Olaniyi’s abduction after he went missing on June 4, 2026.
The command said the suspects allegedly confessed to their individual roles during interrogation and disclosed that the victim was killed after being abducted.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their respective roles in the crime and disclosed that the victim was executed by members of the cult group after his abduction,” the statement said.
Police further revealed that the criminal gang is believed to comprise 12 members, with nine other suspects still on the run.
The command said tactical operations have been intensified to track down the fleeing suspects, dismantle the criminal network and recover the victim’s body.
It added that the three suspects currently in custody are assisting investigators with information relating to other violent crimes allegedly committed by the group within Ilorin metropolis.
The police assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that every suspect found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law upon the conclusion of the investigation.
