The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a full, transparent and impartial investigation into the killing of 14 year old Ezekiel Olapade, who was allegedly shot dead in Ilobu by suspected political hoodlums.
In a statement issued on Friday by the state chairman of the party, Sunday Bisi, Eko Hot Blog reports that the PDP urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to personally monitor the investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The party insisted that everyone connected to the incident should be investigated, regardless of their political affiliation or social status.
Bisi also alleged that police officers raided the residence of the PDP chairman in Irepodun Local Government Area on the night of June 29 without first inviting him for questioning.

According to the party, the operation resulted in damage to property and has raised concerns that the investigation may be shifting focus away from those allegedly involved in the killing.
The PDP warned against any attempt to politicise the case and appealed to the Police Service Commission, the National Human Rights Commission and other relevant agencies to closely monitor the investigation to ensure fairness, professionalism and neutrality.
The party also demanded an inquiry into alleged threats made against members of the Amotekun Corps before the attack, as well as an investigation into the reported owners of the vehicle allegedly used by the suspected attackers.
It further requested an official explanation from the Osun State Police Command regarding the reported raid on the residence of its local government chairman and called on security agencies to remain politically neutral.
The PDP pledged to continue supporting the family of the late Ezekiel Olapade in their quest for justice and vowed to resist any effort to influence or undermine the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command recently paraded Kareem Saheed, popularly known as Tanfeani, along with 23 other suspects arrested for offences including alleged membership of an unlawful group and thuggery.
The deceased’s father, Gbenga Olapade, alleged that Tanfeani led a group of hoodlums that attacked his wife’s palm wine bar opposite the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat on June 21. He claimed his son was struck by gunfire after the attackers allegedly targeted another individual inside the premises.
However, Tanfeani denied any involvement in the teenager’s death. He maintained that he was at his party office on the day of the incident and accused members of the Accord Party of falsely implicating him.
The suspect also explained that a widely circulated video showing him carrying a firearm was recorded days earlier during a confrontation at the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat. He claimed he had taken the weapon from individuals who allegedly attacked him and insisted he was being targeted because of his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
