The Tinubu-Hamzat Epe Division Solidarity Front (THEDSF) has continued its statewide consultation tour with a courtesy visit to the Onilekki of Lekki Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Liazim Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun, as the group intensifies stakeholder engagement ahead of its formal inauguration.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the delegation, led by the Director-General of THEDSF, Comrade Giwa Moshood Olasupo (G.M.O.), was received at the royal palace, where discussions focused on grassroots political mobilisation, youth participation in governance and the role of traditional institutions in strengthening democracy.
Addressing the monarch, Comrade G.M.O. explained that the visit was part of the group’s ongoing consultations with traditional rulers to seek their royal blessings, counsel and support before commencing its activities across Epe Division and other parts of Lagos State.
According to him, THEDSF was established to mobilise residents, particularly young people, to participate actively in the democratic process by obtaining and using their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the 2027 general elections.
“The vision of THEDSF goes beyond politics. We are committed to promoting political awareness, encouraging responsible citizenship and mobilising massive grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. We consider our traditional rulers as critical partners in achieving these objectives,” he said.
He added that the movement would continue to engage communities through voter education, political enlightenment and peaceful mobilisation in line with democratic principles.
In his response, Oba Liazim Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun commended the leadership of THEDSF for embarking on a consultation tour before launching its activities, describing the initiative as a demonstration of respect for traditional institutions.
“The future of our society depends greatly on the active participation of our youths. Continue to promote peace, unity and issue-based politics while encouraging people to participate responsibly in the democratic process,” the monarch advised.
Oba Ogunbekun stressed that leadership should always be driven by service, integrity and commitment to the common good. He urged members of the group to remain focused on initiatives that would foster community development and strengthen democratic values.
The royal father offered prayers for the success of the movement and pledged his moral support, encouraging the delegation to sustain its consultations with relevant stakeholders across the state.
The visit concluded with the presentation of the THEDSF action plan and goodwill messages, as both parties reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and civic organisations in promoting grassroots development and democratic participation.
The consultation with the Onilekki of Lekki forms part of THEDSF’s broader engagement strategy aimed at consolidating support from royal fathers, community leaders and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
