According to Tinubu, the achievements are part of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.
He said the reforms focus on revitalising Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), expanding health insurance coverage, improving maternal and child healthcare, strengthening the health workforce, upgrading specialist hospitals and positioning Nigeria as a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare investment.
Giving an update on the programme, the President said 4,161 Primary Healthcare Centres are currently undergoing revitalisation, with work already completed on 3,158 facilities. He added that 14,283 PHCs, representing more than half of the country’s primary healthcare centres, are now functional.
Tinubu also revealed that more than 102 million children have been vaccinated against measles and rubella, while 17.1 million girls have received the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to protect them against cervical cancer.

He further disclosed that 78,054 frontline health workers have been trained nationwide, while 20,000 health professionals have been recruited into federal tertiary hospitals to improve healthcare delivery.
According to the President, the administration has also completed 503 health infrastructure projects across the country and is developing 3 world-class cancer centres to improve access to specialised treatment.
Tinubu said the reforms are aimed at building a stronger, more resilient healthcare system that will benefit both current and future generations.
He encouraged Nigerians to read the Nigeria Health Sector Impact Report, which outlines the major milestones recorded under the health sector renewal initiative.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President said building a healthier nation remains a top priority.
“We are building a healthier, stronger and more prosperous nation, one reform, one community and one life at a time,” Tinubu said.
He assured Nigerians that the reforms would continue, expressing confidence that the country’s healthcare sector would record even greater progress in the years ahead.
“The best days of Nigerian healthcare are still ahead of us,” he added.
