Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused the Minister of Works, David Umahi, of failing to give adequate attention to key federal highways in Edo and Delta states, urging the Senate to step in and ensure fair distribution of road projects nationwide.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the Edo North senator made the allegation during Wednesday’s plenary, where he lamented the poor state of major roads connecting the two states despite the Federal Government’s approval of several new road projects.

According to Oshiomhole, critical highways, including the Benin-Warri, Benin-Asaba, Benin-Auchi and Auchi-Okene roads, have deteriorated significantly, making travel difficult for motorists and commuters.
He argued that repairing existing highways should be prioritised over embarking on fresh road projects.
The former Edo State governor questioned why the government continued to approve new projects while strategic federal roads in Edo and Delta remained in disrepair.
He also accused the Ministry of Works of failing to include the affected road sections in the national budget over the past three years.
Oshiomhole alleged that some rehabilitation works only commenced after President Bola Tinubu directed that tax credits be used to fund parts of the projects.
He appealed to the Senate leadership to engage the Minister of Works and ensure that road infrastructure projects are executed fairly across all regions.
The lawmaker stressed that road development should reflect national priorities rather than favouring particular areas, urging the minister to adopt a more balanced approach in the execution of federal projects.
