President Bola Tinubu has flagged off the construction of the 82 kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road and the reconstruction of the 44 kilometre Gbongan-Osogbo Road in Osun State.
The President directed the contractors handling both projects to deliver quality work within the stipulated 24 month completion period.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that represented at the flag off ceremony in Osogbo by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration would closely monitor the projects to ensure value for money and improve transportation across the South West.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo; Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi; and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji.
Tinubu also urged the contractors and project engineers to engage local youths during construction to enable them acquire practical technical skills and work experience.
He said, “Let me assure you, this administration will enforce quality standards, transparency, and value for money. Every Naira must count. Every milestone must be met. And every community must feel the benefit.”
The President added, “To our contractors and engineers, deliver with excellence and speed. To our state and local partners, let us work as one team. To our citizens, your patience and support will guide this success. Together, we will build not just a road, but trust, not just a route, but a future. May this project stand as a testament to what we can achieve when purpose meets action.”
Tinubu explained that the 44 kilometre Gbongan-Osogbo Road project involves rehabilitating damaged sections of the existing road while reconstructing weak portions of the dual carriageway.
The road, which connects Osogbo with communities including Owode-Ede, Akoda-Ede, Sekona, Oogi, Ode-Omu and Gbongan, was awarded to Messrs Trucrete Solutions Limited at a cost of ₦101.8 billion and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
Similarly, the 82 kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road project, which serves as the shortest route linking Osogbo to Ibadan through major farming communities in Osun and Oyo states, was awarded to Messrs Peculiar Concerns Limited for ₦114.85 billion, with a completion timeline of 24 months.
Combined, the two projects are valued at approximately ₦216.65 billion.
The President also highlighted other major road projects being executed by the Federal Government across the South West, including the rehabilitation of the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha Road and the dualisation of the Ilesha-Akure-Owo-Benin corridor, noting that work is progressing steadily.
He further disclosed that Section One of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos is nearing completion, while construction continues across Ogun, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
Providing updates on the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Tinubu said work on different sections of the project has reached between 18 per cent and 60 per cent completion.
He also revealed that construction has commenced on parts of the Trans-Sahara trade route, stretching from Calabar through Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi and Nasarawa to Abuja, while work on other sections is at the design and mobilisation stage.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, declared his support for President Tinubu’s administration and urged Nigerians to back the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
The monarch said he would not support any other presidential aspirant seeking votes in the next general election.
Also speaking, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Minister of Works Dave Umahi appealed to residents of Osun State to support the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
They argued that voting for the ruling party would be the best way to appreciate the Federal Government’s significant investment in infrastructure across the state.
