Osoba, widely recognised for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films, died at the age of 40. Her death was announced on Wednesday by actor Alesh Sanni, who described her as his “dearest sister” in a heartfelt tribute.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” Sanni wrote.
Another actress, Adeyemo Seilat, also mourned Osoba, describing her death as heartbreaking.
“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest,” she wrote on Instagram.
Candlelight Tribute Before Burial
Ahead of the burial, friends, colleagues and admirers of the late actress will gather for a candlelight and artist night tagged “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories.”
The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 11, at LTV 8 (Blueroof), Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Organisers said the gathering would celebrate Osoba’s life, creativity and lasting contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“Her voice, her art, her spirit… will remain in our hearts,” the organisers stated.
The event is expected to attract actors, entertainers, friends and fans who will pay their final respects before her burial.
Her Battle With Cancer
Osoba’s passing came about two years after she publicly disclosed her battle with cancer and appealed to Nigerians for support towards her treatment.
Following her recovery, she returned to acting in August 2025, describing her survival as a life-changing experience that reshaped both her life and career.

At the time, she said she intended to use her platform to promote cancer awareness, encourage those battling the disease and inspire hope through her personal journey.
She also expressed gratitude to her management team for standing by her throughout her treatment and announced that she was open to acting roles, endorsements and collaborations.
Temitope Osoba is remembered for her memorable roles in Yoruba Nollywood productions and the impact she made in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Iperu Remo on August 13, following the candlelight tribute in Lagos.
