Founder and Chairman of A.A. Rano Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, said the initiative is being implemented through a strategic partnership with Petrosoft Limited, a Nigerian technology company known for developing management systems for the oil and gas industry.
According to Rano, the partnership will see Petrosoft deploy its automated fuel station solutions across the company’s network of about 200 retail outlets nationwide, including stations located in border communities with Niger, Chad, Benin and Cameroon.

He revealed that the first batch of the automated stations is expected to begin operations from January 2026, enabling motorists and motorcyclists to refuel and complete payment transactions independently at any time of the day.
Rano explained that the technology is designed to enhance operational efficiency, reduce the loss of man-hours, improve transparency, and assure customers that they are receiving the exact quantity of fuel paid for.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Petrosoft Limited, Dr Joshua Denila, described the project as a demonstration of the capacity of home-grown technology to address longstanding challenges in Nigeria’s retail fuel market.
Denila noted that the fuel dispensing and payment systems were developed locally and built to international standards, adding that the technology is designed to improve efficiency across fuel stations and larger fuelling depots nationwide.
The initiative positions A.A. Rano Nigeria Limited as one of the first indigenous marketers to introduce large-scale automated fuel retailing in the country, signalling a new phase of digital transformation in Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas sector.
