Peter Obi has reacted to the death of Archbishop Anikwenwa.
The LP candidate described his death as a loss in all ramifications.
Anikwenwa passed on Monday at the age of 83.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the death of the former Prelate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa (Rtd).
The Church of Nigeria, in a press statement issued by its Secretary General, Bishop Anthony Poggo, said Anikwenwa passed on Monday at the age of 83.
The deceased was the former Dean of the Church of Nigeria and the Retired Bishop of Awka Diocese.
In a series of tweets via his Twitter account on Monday, Obi described the death of the former Prelate as a painful loss in all ramifications.
The LP flagbearer said Anikwenwa was an urbane clergyman, a consummate administrator, and a patriot who loved human progress in all of its positive dimensions.
He recalled working closely with the deceased during his campaign for the position of Anambra State governor and kept in touch with him to date.
The former Governor of Anambra State stated that Anikwenwa remained committed to a better Nigeria, and will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Obi, however, commiserated with the immediate family, and the Church of Nigeria over the irreplaceable loss.
He wrote: “I was just informed of the death of Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa (Rtd). His passing is certainly a painful loss in all ramifications. Archbishop Anikwenwa, an urbane clergyman was a consummate administrator and a patriot who loved human progress in all of its positive dimensions.
“I have worked closely with him since 2002 when I started campaigning for the position of Anambra State governor till date. He remained committed to a better Nigeria. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
“May God Almighty, who called him home grant him eternal rest in His Kingdom; and also grant the immediate family, the Church of Nigeria, and all of us the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss. May God Almighty bless the Church of Nigeria always. -PO”
