The Abia State government has voiced strong concerns over the improper use of the titles “His Royal Majesty” and “His Royal Highness” by certain Ezeogos in various autonomous communities across the state, despite not being officially recognized as traditional rulers by the government.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, revealed that these Ezeogos have also been found to unlawfully confer chieftaincy titles on individuals, including their friends and citizens of their respective communities, even though they lack the authority to do so.

The statement read: “The traditional institution in the state is a highly respected and revered one and should be treated with the dignity it deserves.
